Oh, B1A4… This group has been growing on since the release of “What’s Happening?” last year, and has gone from being something I can enjoy because it’s so overly silly and easy to laugh at, to something I can enjoy because it’s actually good. B1A4 has perfected their quirky style and sound, and landed on a cuteness that isn’t close to as over-the-top as their first singles were. I’m for sure not a huge BANA, but B1A4 is a group I’m keeping my eyes on. I don’t know a whole lot about the members just yet, but I’m of course fully capable of ranking them!
Birth name: Cha Sun Woo
Stage name: Baro
Birthday: September 5, 1992
Official height: 178 cm
Position: Main Rapper
Comment: Me putting Baro last doesn’t in any way imply that I don’t like him. It just means that he doesn’t tickle my fancy. I don’t think he’s a bad rapper, but I don’t think he’s great either, I don’t find him amazingly attractive, and he doesn’t have one of those magical vibes that for mysterious reasons makes me love people. Baro’s just kind of there. Maybe I’d find something really interesting about him if I looked into the group more, but so far I’ve got nothing.
Baro, please don’t ever do aegyo. It’s disturbing in general, even more disturbing when guys do it, and extremely disturbing when guys with deeper-than-the-sea voices do it. So, please don’t.
Birth name: Lee Jung Hwan
Stage name: Sandeul
Birthday: March 20, 1992
Official height: 175 cm
Position: Main Vocalist
Comment: Since Sandeul is for sure the best singer in the group I feel like I should like him more. But I don’t. For some reason. His voice might be great, but that’s not all that makes a bias. I’m not attracted to him, because he basically looks like a teeny tiny child. Which is adorable, but also quite disturbing when the guy in question is actually 22 years old.
And also, Sandeul has no vibe. I know that’s an incredibly vague way to define why I like or don’t like someone, but I’m sure you all know that feeling as well. Sometimes you just can’t explain why you’re so into someone, there’s just this vibe. It’s true in real life, and it’s true in kpop, and it’s nothing I can change. Sandeul doesn’t have that vibe that I need for me to really like a member of a group, and therefore he lands this far down on the list.
Birth name: Gong Chan Shik
Stage name: Gongchan
Birthday: August 14, 1993
Official height: 181 cm
Position: Vocalist, Maknae, Face of the Group
Comment: Out of the four vocalists in B1A4, I would for sure say that Gongchan is the least capable. He doesn’t get a lot of lines in their songs, and I can see why. I don’t think he’s a bad singer though, and none of his parts have ever pissed me off, so I can’t complain too much.
Gongchan is stunning. Stunning. His look has grown on me lately, and in their latest video he completely blew me away. Stunning!
While Gongchan might not have Sandeul’s voice, he has that thing that Sandeul sorely lacks. The vibe! But he doesn’t have as much of it as the two guys we have left…
Birth name: Jung Jin Young
Stage name: Jinyoung
Birthday: November 18, 1991
Official height: 178 cm
Position: Lead Vocalist, Leader
Comment: That face! In my opinion, Jinyoung is even more stunning than Gongchan, and he has my favorite look in the group. And he has a great vibe! Many a time my commitment towards my bias has wavered because of this little cutie… Don’t you dare ruin my bias list, you little bias list ruiner! I won’t allow it!
While I really like Jinyoung, and understand that as a leader he has to take a central role, I think he gets too many lines. I do like his voice, but this group has two singers that are better singers than him, and that get pushed to the side. Jinyoung isn’t even the main vocalist, yet he sings a very big amount of the lines in their songs. So, management, please give some more lines to CNU and Sandeul, they deserve it!
Birth name: Shin Dong Woo
Stage name: CNU
Birthday: June 16, 1991
Official height: 182 cm
Position: Vocalist, Rapper
Comment: CNU isn’t my favorite singer in the group. And I for sure don’t find him the most attractive. So why is he my bias? To be honest, I don’t know. It all comes down to vibe, I guess. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous Jinyoung is or how much he and Gongchan try to distract me, when I see CNU it just clicks.
There’s just something about his voice that works so well for me. So whether he’s rapping or singing, it all just sounds good to me. His vocal tone is my style.
Let me know who your bias is, and if you understand what I mean by “vibe”, in the poll and comments, respectively!
