BTS are no longer rookies, since their first anniversary has come and gone, but they were definitely the super rookies of last year. They caught my attention immediately, and now it’s finally time for me to write about them! If nothing awful (like me not getting tickets) happens I will be seeing them live at the end of July, which is incredibly exciting! Anyway, let’s start this opinionated profile!
Birth name: Min Yoon Gi
Stage name: Suga
Birthday: March 9, 1993
Official height: 176 cm
Comment: I don’t have anything against Suga in particular, he just doesn’t do it for me. I do think he’s a good rapper, but he’s not one of my favorites in the group.
I’ve already written about what I think about them attraction-wise, and as I wrote then, Suga does not do it for me on that level either. He’s definitely not unattractive, but he’s very far from my type.
Birth name: Kim Seok Jin
Stage name: Jin
Birthday: December 4, 1992
Official height: 179 cm
Position: Vocalist, Visual
Comment: Jin has always been the member I found the most attractive (though I’m not sure that’s true anymore) and therefore it might seem weird of me to put him this far down. While a lot of the time I do find my bias the most attractive, that’s not at all always the case. Jin has a great look, but there’s not much more about him that interests me.
I’ve never paid attention to him as a vocalist, but none of BTS’s vocalists are that outstanding, so that’s not a big problem.
I love that he loves disney princesses. Princess Jin for queen!
Birth name: Jung Ho Seok
Stage name: J-Hope
Birthday: February 18, 1994
Official height: 177 cm
Position: Rapper, Dancer
Comment: J-Hope is my second favorite rapper in BTS. He has good technique and speed, as far as I can tell. There’s also a quirkiness to his rapping, that I really like! J-Hope is pretty damn weird, so it only makes sense that his rapping is a little strange too.
I wouldn’t say that J-Hope is my favorite dancer in BTS, though he very well might be the best. But “favorite” is not the same as “best”, it’s a lot more dependent on how much I like their vibe and style, not just on actual skill.
J-Hope is very good-looking, but he isn’t my personal cup of tea. I’ve gotten more attracted to him the more I’ve seen of him though.
Birth name: Park Ji Min
Stage name: Jimin
Birthday: October 13, 1995
Official height: 175 cm
Position: Vocalist, Dancer
Comment: I don’t know if this is true, but I just read that apparently Jimin thinks he’s fat, and is very self-conscious about his look. I seriously hope that isn’t true. Jimin, you’re so not fat, and you’re really attractive!
I would say that Jimin is my favorite singer in the group, but as I said, I don’t think any of the singers in the group are really that impressive. Or maybe they are, and I just haven’t paid attention to them because of all the rapping.
Jimin is not my favorite dancer, but I do think he’s very good.
This is a very confusing boy. He’s so cute, but his body is so slamming! I’ve gotten more and more used to the mismatch now, and I’m very close to figuring out the best way to relate to him. Right now I’m just trying to appreciate both parts of him, one at a time.
Birth name: Kim Tae Hyung
Stage name: V
Birthday: December 30, 1995
Official height: 178 cm
Comment: V is so weird. And I love it! I almost always get drawn to the 4D weirdos in kpop, because they really make it all so much more interesting. There are quite a few kpop idols with really bland personas, so it’s so much more fun when someone crazy like V comes along!
V is cute, but not overly extremely so, so I can still find him attractive.
The reason why I like V’s singing is his weirdly deep voice. It’s so awesome. It’s not at all as deep all the time though, which is too bad. And it also makes it seem like that might not really be how he sounds, like he has to “fake” it. But we could always hope that he “fakes” the more high-pitched singing.
Birth name: Jeon Jung Kook
Stage name: Jungkook
Birthday: September 1, 1997
Official height: 177 cm
Position: Vocalist, Dancer, Rapper, Maknae
Comment: I’m really enjoying seeing Jungkook grow up. He started out as such a pretty boy, and even though it’s only been a year since his debut, he already looks so much more mature. Jungkook is the only kpop star whom I actively follow who’s younger than me. And even this small taste of being a noona fan is freaking out. I’m for sure not looking forward to the time when kpop stars will be born in the 2000s. It’s going to be insanely weird.
Jungkook is a perfect quadruple threat. He’s my favorite dancer in the group, the member that’s started to really rival Jin when it comes to attractiveness, and a competent member of both the rap and vocal lines. He’s a golden maknae, if there ever was one.
1. Rap Monster
Birth name: Kim Nam Joon
Stage name: Rap Monster
Birthday: September 12, 1994
Official height: 181 cm
Position: Rapper, Leader
Comment: I’m loving Rap Monster more and more every day. When I first watched their debut video I wanted Jungkook for my bias, but well, my friend called dibs. That happens. So I moved on and since I really liked Rap Monster’s rapping and overall image I decided that he’d be mine. I wasn’t really that attached though, since I didn’t even know what he looked like. (The shades were a dumb idea, just saying.) And I didn’t like his hair. So when Boy in Luv came out I was so happy, because he suddenly had great hair and no shades! So at that point I could really go for it, and since then everything I find out about him just makes him better.
For one, he speaks English! I always get so happy when I find out that one of my biases speaks English, even if it’s just a little, because it makes it so much easier for me to fantasize about running into them. It’s kind of freaking me out though, because he sounds exactly like a guy I know when he speaks English. Exactly the same. It’s really creepy. I have heard that he taught himself English, and if that’s the case I’m really impressed, because his English is almost flawless.
Rap Monster openly supports gay rights! That’s something I feel every single person out there should do, no questions asked, but in Korea that’s definitely not the case. So I’m very happy that he does.
He is my favorite rapper in the group, his style is right up my alley.
There’s nothing more awesome than Rap Monster explaining why he isn’t “Dance Monster”. And he has the best dancing face I’ve ever seen.
