Continuing on with the miniseries I started last week! I’ll now be picking another five groups and another two songs per group. I hope you enjoy! I’ll also from now on be ignoring my thing about only picking songs with music videos, because that’s too limiting. And dumb.
1. Have a Good Night
I’m in love with this song. I tend to favor CNBLUE’s English songs, no matter how awkward the English is, just because it’s easier to sing along to. And this is a super fun and catchy one! And this performance though… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, CNBLUE are the best when performing live, for sure.
2. One of a Kind
Of course it had to be another awkwardly cute and adorable English song! This is a really sweet and cute one, and I love it. It makes me feel better when I’m down, and being a big fan of Jonghyun’s voice I really like it when he gets to sing. Wow, I really don’t have much to write… I like these songs, so that’s why I picked them. There!
1. Bad Girl Good Girl
This was their debut song, and the first song I ever heard from them, so it only makes sense that it’s on this list. It’s also one of my absolute favorite songs from them. The video is a classic sass-fest, and I appreciate it for that.
This was also the first time I saw my dear Fei and fell in love, so it’s special to me… The amount of how gorgeous she is here is through the roof. But I won’t spazz about that.
I love love love the clothes in this video! I need to get good-looking enough to wear them, and then wear them everywhere!
2. I Don’t Need a Man
This is another one of those songs that I (and my friend) quote so often that it’s almost ridiculous. But it is a really great song! The message isn’t exactly original if you look at the big picture, but it’s a message I think kpop can benefit from.
The video is great, it really brings the message home. The background scenarios might seem a little ridiculous at times, but they really aren’t that out there.
And well… Fei… Damn girl, what are you doing to me?! Well, she looks great. Just great…
This might be a slightly unpopular choice, since it seems like many people didn’t like this song. But this is the song that made me a fan of EXO, so I have to include it. I thought ‘Mama’ was pretty cool but I didn’t like ‘History’ and ‘What Is Love’ wasn’t interesting enough to me. But this one hit me flat in the face. The dance was awesome, the boys looked great and this song is so incredibly catchy it’s incredible. So I don’t care what all you haters say, I’m including it!
2. Baby Don’t Cry
I know that not exactly all members were featured in this song, but how could I not include this?! This is a fan-favorite and for good reason. This, is beautiful.
I pretty much always prefer the original versions of the fairytales to the disneyfied versions, and I love how this song is all about the more classic story of the little mermaid, but from the prince’s perspective. It tugs at all my feels because it’s such a beautifully tragically story, and makes me feel really pleased with them because they sang of this version, and not the disney version.
1. Pretty Girl
I’m in love with almost all the songs off of their ‘Pink Tape’ album and this is definitely a favorite. I think the concept of speaking about how the pretty girl really isn’t that special, that there’s many like her, is a fresh one, and one we don’t often hear in kpop. I also love Amber’s line about the wicked witch of the west, that one’s awesome. And very quote-worthy.
This might be my favorite f(x) song ever… Maybe. I love the whole “I’m too busy and important to wear heals” thing, it’s awesome. I think this is a really good girl power song too, it tells us that we really should care more about things more important than the way we look, yet it does it in a humorous way. Plus it’s super catchy, and it is, for obvious reasons, an awesome song to walk to.
Brown Eyed Girls
1. Kill Bill
I’m a huge fan of Tarantino in general and these movies are among my absolute favorites. So when I first read the title of their out coming single I was super excited, and slightly terrified. I’ve touched on this before, but I’m going to say it again: I really didn’t want them to fuck it up. And they didn’t. At all. I loved how they redid some scenes, and how the whole video feels a lot like the movies. I also love how the music (especially in the opening) is very reminiscent of the music from the movie at parts. And no, I’m not just referring to the “my baby shot me down” part. Even though I did squeal in delight when I first heard that.
2. Cleansing Cream
I think I’ve made it clear now that I’m not the biggest fan of ballads… But this one is really gorgeous. The thing that convinced me to put this on here the most is not the song though, but the video. This is one of my favorite music videos, and I love the depth this shows. The story is very compelling, and I won’t even try to explain it here. Go watch the video!
I know that this was a shorter post, but I really didn’t feel like I had that much to write, and also because I’m just really tired. But I hope you enjoyed nonetheless!
