We all love a good collaboration, and this is one I think many of us have been hoping for ever since SM and Woollim joined forces. Celebrity BFFs Key from SHINee and Woohyun from Infinite teamed up and are now releasing their first mini album ‘Delicious’, with the promotional single with the same name, as the unit Toheart!
To be honest, I’m not loving this song as much as I want to… Since I’m a permanent resident of the SHINee world, and Woohyun possesses my favorite voice in Infinite, I really really wanted to love everything about this. And while I in no way think it’s bad, I actually think it’s quite good, I’m not as blown away as I wanted to be. Not by this song, nor by the full album.
I’m very pleased with how well these guys’ voices mix. I knew their personalities would mix well and that they’d put on a good show, but I never knew their voices were so compatible. Woohyun is a stronger singer than Key and he sings the more difficult parts, while Key handles the super catchy and fun English parts. But I’m surprised by how very well Key kept up with Woohyun here, which leads to my next point:
Am I the only one who’s seeing more and more light at the end of the tunnel for Key’s singing skills? We all know he’s had some rough couple of years where his voice just really didn’t sound very good, but in the releases from SHINee last year, and now here, his voice sounds better and better. I’ll call it: “The Return of the Almighty”.
I’m loving these lyrics. It’s a simple concept of them both singing about some girl and in which ways she’s great and basically telling her to pick one of them, even going so far as to put each other down to seem like the better choice. I think it’s really cute, and funny.
There are also lots of cute lines in here about them crushing on her but those aren’t as much fun to me. Here are a couple of them though:
He’s going to make it that sweet apparently. Key, honey, I’m not sure that’s possible.
And Woohyun’ll make her feel this way. That seems a bit more reasonable than Key’s goal, to be honest.
But my favorite parts of the lyrics in general is definitely the competition and the sass-mouthing that’s going back and forth:
Well that ends that discussion, I guess.
Oh no, Woohyun wasn’t done:
Well, all of this leads up to them just telling the girl (or maybe, just maybe, they’re asking us?) to just pick one:
I don’t know about you guys, but this is a tough one. My shawol heart has to go with Key, but let me know who you’d choose!
Time to comment on the English! While this isn’t in anyway incorrect, it is a very unorthodox way to describe love. But that’s fine, so I won’t bother them about it. Plus the way Key says it is adorable.
I can’t have been the only one that chuckled at the ‘dream girl’ part, right? I mean, they must have thought about that when they put it in there. Right? Or am I just overanalyzing this..?
I just have to make one final comment about these lyrics… I know what this is supposed to mean, but it just sounds oh so dirty to me. But I have a dirty mind, so.
All I could think about when I first watched this video was how much fun they must have had when they shot it, especially since they’re such good friends in real life.
I’m assuming that Key and Woohyun are childhood friends or whatnot in the video, and that they find a box full of memories:
And then kind of go back to being little kids and having a random sleepover, while both wanting the same girl? I’m not really sure how the whole ‘childhood friends’-deal adds anything to the meaning of the video, but those shots were all adorable, so I’m not complaining.
I guess that the only point of this cute segment is to show that they’ve grown up and now they both like the same girl. Which is not something we needed this to show us, but it was cute and fairly brief, so there’s nothing wrong with it.
This is my favorite set right here. The outfits and the styling mixed with the set and dancing made me really love these scenes. I know that these are really just the scenes where they’re just dancing, but I really enjoyed them.
I know that this was a short moment, but is he watching her right now? Because if he is, I’m calling creepy.
This is just adorable. That’s the only word to describe this with.
Wow, I love this set too. It’s like if you were living inside a candy world only inhabited by unicorns, that’s how cute and bright it is.
I loved the scene with the flowers!
Or well… The battle of the flowers.
I especially love their faces after Key “sneakily” throws away Woohyun’s flowers, it was golden.
These scenes made no sense to me whatsoever. But, you know, sparkles! I swear that was the reasoning when they decided to add this.
Oh… So… I’m supposed to choose? I’m not sure I’m comfortable with that. I also have to point out that I loved how they matched the flowers to the hair of the other guy, it was subtle, but cute.
I only have one thing to say about the last two minutes of the video: These guys are truly the kind of friends who scratch each others backs.
Sorry, I had to. Kkaebsong.
Key and Woohyun are both very good dancers and I did very much enjoy the dancing in this video. Problem is, I can’t really remember the moves. So, sadly, this dance isn’t that memorable.
I really enjoyed this belt-hip-thingy-move though. It’s the one move I can clearly remember.
I’m not sure if this really counts as part of the dance, but I very much enjoyed their back-and-forth “battles”. Much cool, very fun.
Outfits and Styling
Wow, well done! *claps hands*
These outfits are my favorites. I mean, it’s not easy to pull off a suit like that (especially in the color Key got) but they both look really dashing. Awesome outfits, and as I said before, they’re prefect on that set.
I’m not really sure what’s going on with Key’s eyebrows, and I’m not sure if it’s cool or not… I’ll get back to you.
Woohyun looks really good. And purple hair, honey yes! It suits him very well, and so does the cut.
Key’s hair in these scenes was awesome. Super blonde with yellow on the sides and yellow eyebrows? That is not easy to pull off, but Key does it. And he does it well.
Well aren’t you cute! The outfits in these scenes are great too. Key looks great, and those zebra pants are extra great.
I’m loving this outfit too, especially the silver jacket. Woohyun’s styling is a little easier too pull off in most of the scenes, but that’s definitely a good thing. I mean, try to picture him in Key’s yellowish hair style. It’s not good, is it? Exactly.
These outfits felt a little random to me at first, but I really appreciate them as a cool contrast to the super bright restaurant they’re later in. And this look suits Woohyun very well.
Aww the way Key looks at Woohyun might be the cutest thing in this entire video. Oh, and the outfits look great!
Well, that’s my take on this perfectly put together unit! I know I said in the beginning of this post that I wasn’t loving the song (and I’m still not loving it as much as I’d like), it is really growing on me now that I’ve listened to it several times for this review. Damn, it’s catchy!
