2NE1 is my number one favorite girl group, and now it’s finally time to talk about this fabulous foursome! So here it is, my opinionated profile of 2NE1!
Birth name: Sandara Park
Stage name: Dara
Birthday: November 12, 1984
Official height: 162 cm
Position: Vocalist, Face of the Group
Comment: Since this is my favorite girl group in all of kpop, I obviously love and support all four of these lovely ladies immensely, but someone’s got to be last, and sadly that would have to be Dara for me.
It’s been long established among Blackjacks and kpop fans in general that Dara’s voice is the weakest in the group, so there’s not really much to say there. I think her voice can be very sweet though, and it works very well in some songs. But it’s not very powerful.
As a dancer she’s quite awkward, but at least she’s better than Bom.
Dara is the visual and the face of 2NE1, and she fills that role very well. While I only sometimes (like in the shot above) truly get why she’s such a good visual, she does bring in a lot of money and fans that way, so she does it well. And you should never underestimate the value of a good visual.
Perosnality wise I find Dara very endearing. She’s sweet and funny, I have nothing to complain about. I also find it adorable how close she and her fellow celebrity of a brother seem to be, it’s very cute.
Birth name: Park Bom
Stage name: Bom
Birthday: March 24, 1984
Official height: 165 cm
Position: Main Vocalist
Comment: While I’ve never been as enamored with the way Bom looks as some people are, I do wish that she’d stop messing with her face. But you know, her body, her life, her choice. But I feel like the more stuff she has done, the stranger it looks.
Bom’s voice used to be stronger, that’s for sure. I think she’s getting better again now and I’m glad to see that, but I still don’t think she’ll ever be my favorite singer in 2NE1, that spot is taken.
Her dancing is awkward, we all know that. It’s so it’s awkward that it’s actually quite adorable, kind of like with T.O.P.
I know that Bom’s supposed to be the ‘sex appeal’ in 2NE1, but I’ve never gotten that. To me she’s always seemed way more cute than sexy, and squeezing the girl with the most “voluptuous” body in the group into teeny tiny dresses and high heels, doesn’t make her the sexy one, when her vibe is nothing like that.
I love a 4D idol, that’s for sure. I’m really weird myself, so I relate to the weird ones, to the ones that say weird stuff and kind of stick out. And Bom is certainly like that. She’s adorably weird and dorky, and I love her for it.
Birth name: Gong Min Ji
Stage name: Minzy
Birthday: January 18, 1994
Official height: 161 cm
Position: Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist, Lead Rapper, Maknae
Comment: When I first saw 2NE1 Minzy was the one who first interested me, and I view her as my original bias in the group. It’s also really cool that we have the same birthday, albeit a few years apart.
Minzy is one of my favorite female dancers in kpop, and even though I have no knowledge about dance whatsoever, I feel like she’s definitely good.
As a rapper I’ve never really noticed her much, to be honest. It’s hard to stand out in that department when you have a girl like CL in the same group.
Minzy possesses my favorite voice out of 2NE1, definitely. I think her voice is much more stable than Bom’s is nowadays and I think it’s very interesting and has a personal sound. You can really tell when it’s her singing, in a very good way.
I never found Minzy that physically attractive, and while I do think her nose job made her prettier, I still think it was a shame that she had it done. Her face was more memorable before.
Birth name: Lee Chae Rin
Stage name: CL
Birthday: February 26, 1991
Official height: 162 cm
Position: Leader, Main Rapper, Lead Vocalist
Comment: I love this girl. She is my favorite female in all of kpop, and one of the people that I look up to the most. I also have the hugest girl crush on her. She’s one of those few girls that I want to be, want to be their friend and kind of want to sleep with. She’s gorgeous, sexy, sensitive, talented, strong and independent. She’s just the kind of woman I want to be, at least in the ways I see her. Of course I don’t know her personally, so this is all based on how I perceive her.
I do think that CL is one of the absolute best female rappers in kpop, but I do think that she overdoes the screaming when she raps live. Despite that, I still see her as one of kpop’s best performers, because this girl has got some incredible flaming charisma.
Dance wise, she is second to Minzy and holds her own well. 2NE1 isn’t really a dance based group though, so it doesn’t matter much.
I think CL’s gotten more and more beautiful over the last few years, and when I saw her in the music videos for last year’s releases I was blown away. And there’s nothing sexier than charisma, so that makes her even hotter.
I could go on and on about her, but I think I’ve made my point. CL is super awesome, end of story.
I hope you enjoyed this the tenth of my opinionated profiles, and that you’ll leave me some nice comments!
